2003-09-11 - 9:41 p.m. - two years later...a song has new meaning

We had a moment of silence this morning at school in memory of those who died two years ago. Afterwards, the choir sang the National Anthem over the intercom.

Today I really listened to the words of that song. And instead of envisioning a battle that happened many many years ago, I pictured planes going into buildings with an explosion..."the bombs bursting in air"...the fires of the WTC and those three firemen hoisting the flag on the towers' skeletal remains..."gave proof through the night that our flag was still there..."

"o'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave...."

For the brave whose lives were lost 2 years ago, and for those who were left behind, may God bless us, everyone...
