2003-08-20 - 11:04 p.m. - alone I attended a poetry workshop tonight and during the writing part of our session, we had to write a poem about something we feared. I was amazed at what some people could write in about 20 minutes - the time we were given for the task. It felt like two minutes to me, but here's my first draft without a title: I am afraid of being alone Not for a day, a week, or even years but alone through time Alone as my intimacies embrace only themselves Alone as the night's darkness lulls me to sleep Alone as the morning rays of light tap on my eyelids Alone as life's vast collections of emotions hang wrinkles on my skin Alone as the creeks of my bones echo through the house Alone as I take my last breath.
